Fan-assisted vaporizers that turn liquid CO2 from a storage tank into gas with ambient air.
About this design
Liquid CO2 from the storage tank flows through the coil, where ambient air above 10 °C, blown by axial fans, warms it: the liquid evaporates and leaves as slightly superheated gas for the process.
Frost builds up on the coil in operation. So that frost never stops the process, the vaporizer is sized with spare capacity: two coils that take turns, or in ED types a single coil of twice the required capacity. Above 5 °C the coil is defrosted with air; below 5 °C an optional heating coil (steam, electric or hot water) is needed.
