Pre-coolers after harvesting

Air coolers that quickly remove the field heat from fresh fruit after harvest, before cold storage.

Pre-coolers after harvesting

About this design

Some fruit, grapes for example, keep much longer in cold storage when they are brought close to the storage temperature within about six hours of harvest (around 90 % of the cooling need) before they enter the cold room. A pre-cooler lowers the temperature of the air passing through its coil to the set value and moves it through the produce.

During pre-cooling the produce must not lose water, must not reach its freezing point and must not be wetted by droplets. Each pre-cooler is designed for the produce and its pre-cooling conditions; the cooled produce then goes to the cold room.
